MySpace
Hey guys, I reached out a few months back about this potential collaboration. I've since changed perspectives. Instead of networking with MySpace and helping to uplift and bring them back to life, why not keep this all internally and do what I proposed (in a message to UdioAdam) and create the first safe and responsible space for AI created music? The model would still be the same. Udio would share in royalties with rightsholders as well as with the fans of the artist/rightsholders that come to the site to create. As a refresher, let's say that all of Madonna's 38m Spotify monthly listeners came to the site to create their own version of Like a Prayer. And because you'd be not only the creative site to do so but you'd also be the distributor AND the DSP, everything is done in one space. But not to overwhelm, let's say that out of the 38m, 10m wanted to make their creation public and sharable with others. Madonna's catalog instantly gained 10m pieces of new catalog for both her, Udio and the person who made it public to share revenue with. Logistically you'd need a few things, a distribution partner or software upgrade, cooperation and legal rights to use the lyrics of specific artist/songs, the ability to be a DSP (I think the framework for this is already there, you'd need an ad partner... Viant maybe, they own MySpace) and some direct relations with a PRO, the MLC, Soundexchange and possibly someone at the Library of Congress. 500m new variations or remixes could be created monthly for already existing catalogs, increasing the revenue pool for all rights holders. I know this is a bit of a fantasy of mine but based on the current climate of AI music and the false narrative that is being put out by the big 3 +1, as it is with the industry, never trust what is being said on the surface. I am confident that this would work and it would absolutely destabilize the recording industry, all because we allowed regular people to make music WITH their favorite artist. I know this idea isn't private by posting here. Hopefully someone there will see it and a lightbulb turns on. I am here for any further questions and feedback. I look forward to yours.
