Delighted to note that our new TRIM feature is now live. It trims in-place (with an undo) option, and you can trim the beginning, end, or both all at once. Enjoy!

UdioAdam, thank you! I think that the more editing features you deliver the more a need of changing the UI/UX comes to a place! But...step by step!!! Great!
Donnie Young
Indeed. I feel this is one of the easier things to implement. I have had to do this manually several times through editing software when I feel Udio should have this option already.

I have an awesome 2:10 song that has the most awkward intro (40 seconds) ever, so cropping it out would be amazing instead of extending/replacing the bit.
Hope that this can be released pretty soon...

So a cropped version of crop, where modesty at any point is the central meaning.

Merged in a post:
Add an edit/trim feature so I can end a song without doing 30 trys with [outro] set in custom and the add outro set. Also fix this form so I can read everything I am typing

Please add some kind of Fade-in and Fade-out option to the crop if possible. Also, can you modify the Crop tool so that it would be possible to select "Crop area" and "Extend" more precisely, for example, if possible, by entering numbers with an accuracy up to one-tenth or even one-hundredth of a second? Thanks!

So, this nerfs the "no inpainting" on other people's songs thing? Or are you just going to allow that now?

Gainn, I've seen the related feature request and we Udio folks understand and respect the concerns there, but we're approaching these requests separately.

One of our devs has started working on this :)

UdioAdam I've just had a thought.
Couldn't you have (effective) variable length generation using this?
Basically the model generates the 33s extension and then it uses the added crop feature to automatically just crop the end/start of the generation off.
Obviously the user could do this themselves manually but it would be a lot nicer, simpler and quicker for us users if it all happened internally.
This could work for both extensions and initial gens (using both models).
You could also automatically adjust the slider points as such, for things such as lyric timing. Rather than the user doing this as they wouldn't know the process that's actually going on.
It wouldn't be completely clean and natural variable length extension, but it would be very nice and handy.

iNever, intriguing approach!
